Concussions & Traumatic Brain Injury

Multiple Causes of Head Injuries

Many times, concussions go undiagnosed and are not medically evaluated.  Concussions or mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI) and subconcussive events are many times brushed off as whiplash injuries because "nothing showed up on the CT or MRI imaging". This does not mean that a traumatic injury did not occur. TBIs can be caused by sports (adult and youth), motor vehicle accidents, falls, prolonged surgeries, repetitive firing of firearms, blast injuries, emotional / psychological traumas and more.

Chronic Inflammatory Changes After Head Injuries

Once the inflammation associated with TBI begins, it can continue for weeks to years. It can also significantly impact hypothalamic and pituitary function in the brain which can lead to many hormone imbalances. The inflammation and hormonal imbalances can begin to impact emotional, psychological, and physical health as well. Many affected will begin to have complaints of fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, low libido, and much more.

How We Can Help

We are committed to using the latest, most up to date information to provide our patients with the best possible care. Our provider has completed training under Dr. Mark Gordon through Millenium Health and certified in TBI. We evaluate all recommended hormones and markers associated with brain injury. We use nutraceuticals and hormones as needed to restore levels back to optimal ranges.
